You are over the top and not good people. The good you might be doing is overshadowed by excess

HI (name withheld),

“Bad people”? Apparently you are referring to me as well as the thousands of other staff, clients and supporters of the MRFF. You paint with a broad brush.

Apparently you think one can be excessive about defending the freedom of religious belief or non-belief. We disagree. In fact, we believe it endangers the Bill of Rights when those you might think of as “good people” determine for themselves that defending the Constitution is excessive.

Dear Mike. I am a libertarian. I fully believe in individuals rights.  When you attack a bible on a desk you lose enough credibility that you undermine the cause you so fervently engage.  There is an incredible degradation of rights in this nation.  I suggest selecting issues of greater substance.

Dear (name withheld),

You’re welcome to your belief system, as is everyone else. No one here attacked a Bible on a desk. What is at issue is an officer flaunting specific laws and regulations.

In the military, adherence to laws and regulations is important. In a free society, protecting the rights of the individual is paramount. This issue involves both. Recognizing that and ensuring compliance strengthens rather than diminishes what is in question.
