A little off base…

Howdy from the great state of Texas.

It should be noted I have met the organization’s founder Mr. Weinstein on more than one occasion. I worked for 6 years at Perot Systems in the early 1990’s, and also worked on Ross Perot’s Presidential campaign. We have something else in common – my eldest son is current C2C at the AFA.

I know Mr. Weinstein has a distinguished family military history, and I am grateful for his family’s service. I also know he is one of the toughest attorney’s that ever lived – Mr. Perot wasn’t sued all that often because Mr. Weinstein would make their lives a living hell. J I have great respect for him as an attorney and as a person.

However, I believe Mr. Weinstein’s organization is off base forcing the AFA to cancel Operation Christmas Child.

In the US, many have fought and died so we can have freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. It IS wrong for the government to establish a state religion – I know the history of the Church of England and it’s many political and other excesses. However, there is nothing wrong with allowing US soldiers to participate in this sort of outpouring of generosity and faith during Christmas. In fact, I would encourage Jewish soldiers to do something similar during Yom Kippur; Muslims during their holidays, etc. THAT is freedom OF religion. Squashing religious expression like a bug takes the very essence of civility out of civilization. I for one will fight for freedom OF religion with my every breath.
