Vyckie Garrison

Vyckie Garrison, a single mom of seven, started No Longer Quivering to tell the story of her “escape” from the Quiverfull movement. The profoundly patriarchal Quiverfull Movement teaches women to see themselves primarily as childbearing vessels. Children born into QF households are groomed to see the outside world as enemies of God. Through years of indoctrination and constant use of military language, these children are trained to defend their beliefs against the world.

After nearly 30 years in the Movement, Vyckie courageously saved her family and herself from the abusive lifestyle associated with such a strict and restrictive sect. Her extraordinary strength and courage helped her not only escape, but to also to launch an all out campaign to help those left behind. She started No Longer Quivering less than 2 years ago and it has rapidly grown into an invaluable resource detailing the deceptions and dangers of the Quiverfull philosophy and lifestyle.

Today, several former QF adherents are now contributing their stories to NLQ and their collective voices makes these Quiverfull warnings impossible to dismiss or ignore. Under Vyckie’s stewardship NLQ has become gathering place for women escaping and recovering from spiritual abuse.

Vyckie also recently founded Take Heart Project, an organization by and for the brave women who have lived a life of entrapment and coercion in a country that is supposed to the land of the free. The Take Heart Project has a two-fold purpose: to support women and children who are escaping abusive religious movements and to provide the public with accurate, compassionate information on the unique challenges faced by the spiritually abused.
