You’re over the top on the USMC/Nazi flag debacle.

1. The flag belonged to an individual Marine. It was not a unit banner.
2. These soldiers are mostly kids, not chosen for their sophistication, sensitivity, nor knowledge of history.
3. The USMC can’t weed out every skinhead/neoNazi/idiot who tries to enlist.
4. I strongly doubt if any NCO or officer above platoon level knew anything about this informal photo nor about the flag.

Save your energy for the really big stuff.

Hi, (name withheld)

I’m Rick Baker, a long time supporter of and former volunteer to MRFF. Mikey is up to his earlobes in mail concerning this issue so I’m pitching in to make sure everyone gets the courtesy of a reply.

As a former Air Force Officer and Rescue Pilot having served two combat tours in Vietnam I feel I am qualified to render a judgment on this issue.

Pat, if a photo is published in which a military unit is depicted displaying a banner, the content of that a banner represents the entire unit and not just the person to whom it belongs. Actually, as it turns out, everyone did know about the banner but either weren’t observant enough to recall what evil the SS emblem represented or didn’t care.

MRFF is dedicated to protecting the constitutional right of all armed forces members to enjoy a religion neutral military. Imagine, if you would, the number of Jewish folks we have serving in the military to whom this symbol is the epitome of racist and religious supremacy. Add to that the millions of our greatest generation who fought and died in W.W.II to destroy that emblem. It is therefore “big stuff” for MRFF to corral this kind of insensitive, possibly intended activity.

MRFF is currently addressing over 26,000 complaints from our young men and women in the armed forces relative to religious hegemony. The bulk of it is generated by Dominion Christian Evangelists whom we have come to know as “Dominion Christians” of the ilk of Militias and KKK. So activities like this SS thing have a much deeper significance.

However, you opinion is appreciated, if only to let us know what percentage of the public is paying attention. Much more information on MRFF may be had by going to our web site. militaryreligiousfreedom.org.

Also, telling Mikey to relax is tantamount to telling a great white shark not to bite that seal. LOL

Sincerely,

Rick Baker
