SS and US Marines
I write this letter with outraged sadness that fine young men from United States serving their country should have been (hopefully) sufficiently ignorant of recent history to adopt th
The photographs below roil my intestines and break my heart beyond words to express! I wish I could really believe that these sniper teams innocently combined the view of the United States flag with the central symbol of the murderous SS! The use of the SS lightning bolts speaks for itself a sufficiently horrible tale.
I include some photographs below as context for those showing the US Marines stupidly and proudly displaying the symbols on the SS death machine operators!

You speak the truth. Thank you for your service, and for your courage to still stand and face horrors like this, to defend this nation against them. You are a better American than any Marine pictured, here.
The SS Stylized in the same way has been around At least since the mid 80s. It is documented multiple times in the Chandler Brothers’ books DEATH FROM AFAR -MARINE CORPS SNIPING. VOL 1 published 1992 pages 171-175. VOL 2 published 1993 pages 28 – 29 specifically details how an investigation about MARINES branded with the SS on their chests were found not to be Nazis, but proud MARINE SNIPERS. There are many more references in Vol 2 and in Volumes 3-5, but it should be obvious to all, these are just proud Marine Scout/Snipers.
RobertM, while the symbol’s been around for a long time, that doesn’t make it right or even “okay.” I don’t condemn the young, enlisted Marines in these pictures. They are mostly first-term enlistees that, through no real fault of their own, have been indoctrinated into a culture by their leaders. They’ve seen these symbols only in video games and movies and don’t have the full perspective that brave men like Mr Plywaski share above. They are good Americans that have been misled by their leadership to think this sort of thing is “okay.” It’s not–no more so than former symbols of racism or religious bias are. Let’s educate the young, but hold their leaders–the officers in their chain-of-command who have college degrees and professional military education–repsonsible and get them out of our military.
Here we go again sticking the publics nose where it shouldn’t be. That symbol is earned and is in no way associated with that Nazi crap. Let our devil dogs fight their fight. Let them be proud and come home safe. That “tag” shows that they go where others can’t. They do what others won’t and let them be proud any way they feel fit. Until you’ve walked that mile in his shoes then bless the Hell and reconing they bring upon the enemy and save more American lives.
Ohhrah devil dogs….
Mr. Kelley:
The public has a right to stick its nose into military since they are working for us and we finance them. Without the public, you would not be able to get the equipment and the recruits you need to fight the wars so your donkey rear end is ours.
BirdManBlue, There is no excuse for what these young men did. They have access to the internet to find out what the SS was all about. I guarantee if it was young German recruits who did this, we would be screaming our bloody heads off. You need to remember that the youth of Germany was also indoctrinated by the Nazi leadership and yet, we don’t give them any slack for being ignorance, stupid, and dumb about following Adolf Hitler particularly when like the rest of the world, they were going through a Great Depression plus being subject to the harsh conditions of the World War I peace treaty. .
By the way, where were our sergeants when all this was happening. Many of them have college degrees and even if they don’t have college degrees, there was no excuse for what they did or ignoring what was happening. They should have bee court-martial and throw out of the military with no benefits and pension. End of story.
