Dear MRFF,

I’m not unsubscribing and disassociating myself with your organization because I believe so strongly in your primary purpose of keeping religious influence out of the US military, but I find myself increasing disillusioned with your take reporting/slant on incidents in Afghanistan and defense of Islamic extremists. Stop justifying the rapid acts of religious extremists! The US military disposed of excess Korans and religious documents on a US base. So what? If the US military disposed of excess bibles, books on scientology, or Harry Potter novels, would MRFF sound an alarm? The US military did not restrict prisoner access to religious materials, it just disposed of excess books (many of which reportedly contained inflammatory writing by the prisoners). The US military is not an Islamic organization, and therefore is not required to follow the rules/regulations of Islam. Think Employment Division vs Smith- the military’s actions were not intended to restrict or discriminate against Islam. Did I miss the Supreme Court’s reversal on this decision which mandated that the US government must shape its policies to accommodate the beliefs and sensibilities of rabid extremists?

Don’t you understand that the masses protesting the Koran incident in Afghanistan are 100 times worse than any Evangelical within the US military? You constantly justify their actions by insinuating that US military leadership are really the ones in the wrong here. This is painful inaccurate, as the rabid masses in Afghanistan were this way long before the US military arrived on the scene. Although I agree that there are serious repercussions to US military proselytization overseas, how can you possibly draw a parallel between these acts and the actions of SSG Bates? That type of accusation will lose you many followers within the military who agree with your cause but cannot support an organization that makes such ridiculous assertions.

Hi (name withheld),

Bet you have fun with this name in religious discourse. LOL

My name is Rick Baker and I volunteer for the MRFF to make sure everyone gets a timely response to their letters.

You have hit upon a sore spot with some of our subscribers who, because of their Christian beliefs have lost a bit of balance between the obvious, over the top professions of our Islamic friends and the more moderate but none-the-less stringent doctrines of Christianity.
There is a mixture here of patient observation and rush to judgement.
Now, how could anyone disagree with you that there seems to be a protective armor plating for the Muslims who have proven time after time to be the aggressor?

But disagree we must, because we have entered their land, uninvited and irrespective of our sterling goals have basically placed Christianity in direct opposition to Islam on home ground.

Yes, American goals are fair and far reaching. But we must remember that the rank and file Muslim is not Taliban, We cannot destroy their faith to preserve ours. That means defending Islam as we would any religion protected by the US Constitution which we carry with us to war as we do in peace.

(name withheld), it is very hard to be a defender of an alien faith but that’s what America and MRFF are all about .

America is a secular nation in which all religions may flourish but none dominate. Were we not to defend Islam equally with Christianity we would perish as all the world tyrannies have.

MRFF defends Islam as fiercely as we defend Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, or any religion which is practiced in America for we are not a Christian organization but rather a religion neutral organization. Christianity’s majority does not enable us to be bias.

Your thoughts are fair and deserve answers. I hope I have supplied them.

As a Vietnam combat veteran I am just as touchy as you may be about giving our opponents equal time. But every time I do, I learn something. And with my hard head that aint no easy accomplishment.

Please hang in there with us and trust the judgment of those who have spent the majority of their lives trying to bring people together rather than separating them.
