You guys are all assholes; bibles-a national security threat? You morons are the threat.

Hi (name withheld),

So much for a fair hearing before sentencing, eh?

Here’s a couple of things to chew on.

It is a direct violation of constitutional provision for government, including the armed forces and public education, to favor, recommend or promote one religion over another or religion over non-religion. US Supreme Court: Lemon Vs. Kurzman, 1971)

By authorizing the use of military insignia on Christian Bibles the Military would have been held in violation of the US Constitution.
The security threat stems from an armed forces which has been co-opted by one religion and attempts to make unwilling conversions at home and abroad. This has already occurred under the auspices of a militant Christian sect known as Dominion Christians.

Since you have not bothered to research this issue and simply use the time worn old blowhard’s choice of invectives you have missed the mark by a wide margin. It would appear that it is you and not MRFF which is the moron.

As usual you people distort the truth. Military insignia on bibles also included one for Jewish soldiers and sailors-1942 and endorsed by FDR. For your information I have researched it. I invite you to show me inthe constitution where it states that the military can’t hand out bibles-that is not endorsing any particular religion. ” Congress shall make….. I suggest that you reread the 1st amendment.
Not sure how any of this translates into a national issue except in your pea brain.

(name withheld),

As usual you distort reality. The Bibles to be printed with military insignia were printed by Holman Bible Publishers, a subsidiary of LifeWay, the publishing arm of the Southern Baptist Convention. These are Christian version Bibles. Their distribution violated the “Lemon Test” the Supreme Court test for judging whether a government act is constitutional or not.

This is the United States of America not the Christian States of America. America was founded as a secular pluralistic nation in which all religions may flourish but none dominate. The act of publishing Christian Bibles endorsed by the armed forces was an act of Christian Supremacy and about as UnAmerican as you can get. Until and unless America becomes a Christian controlled country we must all follow secular, civil Constitutional Law.

MRFF will stand with the Constitution and against religious hegemony irrespective of which religion attempts to dominate. All real Americans will.

You are behind the times and basically ignorant of constitutional law. To save yourself more embarrassment why not google “US Supreme Court Decisions on the Separation of Church and State.” It’s all laid out for you.

Once again, it is you who turned out to be the pea brain.

Hey, do you only read the King James Version Bible? A lot of very conservative Christians, especially fundamentalists, believe that is the only legitimate bible. I think they’re going to be REALLY unhappy when they get their new bible home…the one with the military branch insignia on the front…and it is NOT the KJV. It is a version almost no one reads. I should know…I sold bibles at my local Borders, because I was the only one there who understood the different translation. I sold lots of KJ Bibles–and probably 1 of the HCB. It is sold by the Souther Baptist Convention, so all of you who really like that shiny insignia on it…you’re supporting the Southern Baptist Convention. And if you are Catholic? Ask your priest about sending contribution to other Christian groups that the Catholic Church says aren’t CHURCHES. ( BTW: It is also not on the approved list for Catholics. They’re gonna get in trouble with their bishops if they buy these.)

This isn’t about selling Bibles. This is about selling THIS bible, and saying that if you are a Christian, you have to read THIS one. Sorry. The exchanges sell several versions…buy whichever one you want. Just don’t tell me that one is more better in the eyes of the Navy–or the Army, etc.
