Also, you may not realize you have faith in God, but you do. I could even prove it but you would have to come here. If you are interested in accepting my challenge, let me know.
God Bless You,

Dear (name withheld),
Just to let you know, Mikey is Jewish and NOT an atheist. So much for his “realization you have faith in God.”
MRFF is made up of more than Mikey. There is Blake (the Assistant to Mikey), the Board, Advisory Board, volunteers and supporters and 75% of us are Christian.
I am an ordained minister and on the Advisory Board.
Your email sounds like a threat to me. He is way too busy protecting our soldiers than waste his time on you.
Mikey doesn’t need you to prove anything to him or him to you.
You want a challenger to prove your own self- righteous arrogance? How about we send an Advisory Board member you can challenge? We have –
2 Brigadier Generals
Vice Chairman of the Chief of Staff
2 Governors
2 Chaplains
3 ministers
1 Major
1 Major General
We also have almost 35,000 (1 can represent 50) soldier clients of which 96% of them are Christian.
I’m sure any one of them would be more than happy to accept your challenge for Mikey.
Pick one.
Pastor Joan
Oh, and a Christian would NOT want God taken out of ANY oath so where is your argument now?
(name withheld)
Dear (name withheld),
A Christian that obeys God’s admonition to obey the laws of those governing over us. The Constitution is our governing law.
What kind of Christian doesn’t obey our laws?
Where is YOUR argument now?
A Christian doesn’t want God taken OUT of our armed forces, and that is exacted what you are are asking. Now, if you were pushing for JESUS to be allowed in, you may have an argument. But, even though the Jewish people are the chosen ones, they don’t believe in Jesus Christ, and neither do catholic. But, I will rest my case because all this is doing is causing an argument that we will not agree on. You have my opinion. My father, and brother were both veterans, and if my father was still alive, what you are wanting to do with the Marines would make him sick, and my brother has seen what your organization is demanding be done and it is wrong. You are wrong, anyone wanting this type of demands has to be an atheist, that is why I started off my first letter the way I did.
God Bless You AND America,

Dear (name withheld),
No one is taking God OUT of the armed forces. All we wanted was to not make it MANDATORY.
The very First Amendment to the Constitution reads:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion …”
Note that the clause is absolute. It allows no law. It is also noteworthy that the clause forbids more than the establishment of religion by the government. It forbids even laws respecting an establishment of religion.
“. . . no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.” (Article VI, Section III)
This means that they cannot add “so help me God” to the end of the oath and make it MANDATORY for all people…including those of other faiths or not faith…in order to join the military.
It is no longer mandatory but optional. It hasn’t been taken out.
http://www.airforcetimes.com/article/20131025/NEWS/310230013/Academy-makes-God-optional-cadets-oath
My father fought in WWII, my brother in Vietnam, a-son- in law did 2 tours in Iraq and my future son-in-law served 1 year in Afghanistan and 1 year in Iraq.
I also worked for the military under contract from 2004-2005.
We have no problem having those that want to say it, do it. It just can’t be mandatory under the Constitution.
Mikey is Jewish but 75% of the Board, Advisory Board (of which I am a part), volunteers and supporters are Christian. 96% of our 35,000+ (1 can represent 50) soldier clients are Christian.
We do a lot of praying here.
Believe me, if MRFF was anti-Christian in any way, I would have left a long time ago.
We were swamped with hate mail and death threats after Mikey was on with Megyn Kelly on Fox news. Everyone gets a response in hopes to clear up that we are NOT anti-Christian. Many of us didn’t sleep for almost 2 days.
I apologize for responding to your challenge instead of stating the above information.
May God bless your socks off and God bless America.
Pastor Joan
As far as you being a pastor, can you explain to me one thing. Did you pray to God BEFORE you started such a horrendous act. Because I promise you, he would NOT bless this action. What is wrong with this country now is people like you slowly taking God out of our country. It started years ago in our schools. We have almost got him back in, but you are now trying to get him out of the armed forces.
I’m sorry, but I am upset and I am part of an organization in my community trying to clean it up because alcohol is taking it over. Do we need to go national and attack your group as well, because if you don’t lay off I will contact our committee chair and other members and see about going national.
May God Bless You,
(name withheld)
Dear (name withheld),
I “pray without ceasing” and follow Romans 13:1 “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.”
The Constitution is our governing authority and we must obey it
I was in school when the prayer was said and then it was changed to a moment of silence so everyone can say their own prayer in their heart.
The kids back in my day – under the prayer – are no different than the kids today. I had to turn in a classmate for having a knife, guns showed up once in a while, alcohol was brought into the school, truancy was rampant, some were always swearing, and there was bullying and fighting on the playground. “There is nothing new under the sun.”
You can’t blame what the kids do because an oral prayer was taking out of schools. Put the blame on the parents where it really belongs. Stop using God as a scapegoat for parental failure.
Mikey was selected by the DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE as one of the top 100 most influential people in the military, http://special.defensenews.com/people/short-list.php
The Military Religious Freedom Foundation has been nominated 5 times for the Nobel Peace Prize. https://www.militaryreligiousfreedom.org/2012/10/101812-mrff-nominated-for-2013-nobel-peace-prize-2/
Go national and attack MRFF if you want to but you will have to get at the back of the line. There are many churches, prayer groups, news media, powerful organizations and politicians that have been doing it for years. You’re not the first and certainly will not be the last one to attempt it. You’re threats to go national are nothing new to us.
You are passionate and so am I. I will not judge you for what God called you to do and I certainly don’t expect you to judge me for what God called me to do – even though you don’t understand it or disagree with it.
Pastor Joan
I just don’t understand how you can call yourself a pastor a take God out of the Military oath. I can’t sleep when I don’t try to do something about it, and I’m just a Sunday School teacher.

Dear (name withheld),
There is nothing you can do about my relationship with God.
Seeing as you do not believe we should follow the Constitution in opposition to God telling us to obey our government, maybe this will help you understand.
“But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven (so help me God), neither by the earth, neither by any other OATH, but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.” James 5:12
So, according to the bible we are not to swear to ANY OATH and especially not to SWEAR BY HEAVEN (God).
If you are intent on pushing an OATH and asking for the soldiers to SWEAR BY HEAVEN (God), then you are not following the infallible Word Of God you profess to follow.
Pastor Joan

Hi Pastor Joan;
My only comment would be that you may seriously (and in love) re-visit your definition of “Christian” in your message. Working against Christianity in the public forum would only be of interest to radical atheist activists, not those who embrace the person of Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Saviour. Perhaps you are a “social christian” (I’m curious what church would offer you a “pastor” designation) but I might respectfully suggest you are not interested in walking daily with our Lord and Saviour and allowing Him to guide and direct your life and your passions.
Respectfully yours,
Peter Stec
