Praying for you Mikey.  I guess I’m one of those fundamentalist bible believing christians you hate. How sad to be filled with rage continually. You must be an unhappy person. I don’t hate you, I’m no love my neighbor as myself. So I’m praying the Lord will reveal Himself to you as He did to me 24 years ago.  Like you, I was an outspoken atheist until God showed up and turned my worldview upside down. If you ever want to ask questions about Him and His awareness of your actions just let me know.  God bless you!

Hi (name withheld),

Thanks for the prayers. We bless Mikey all the time for the grief he takes from thoughtless people who think they know all about him. Like you, for instance.

You see, you’re just flat wrong. Mikey doesn’t hate “fundamentalist bible believing Christians.” He just really doesn’t like it when people who think their belief system is not only right but is the ONLY right one and they believe they have a duty to convert everyone to their way of believing. That he just finds sad and disappointing. But when those people with their totalitarian views take advantage of a superior position in the military to shove their belief system on people beneath them in rank or stature, it really gets him going.

So it’s not about hating Christians, as over 95% of the members/supporters of the MRFF are themselves Christians, some of them clergy, it’s about hating the abuse of power and hating the attempt to undermine the laws of our country.

And Mikey isn’t “filled with rage,” as you so condescendingly suggest. Nor is he an unhappy person. He laughs a lot and loves deeply. He’s a good guy. He gets a little loud sometimes when people try to push those in our military around, but that’s in defense of others, sort of like Jesus and the money-lenders.

I’m glad you don’t hate him. As I understand it, Jesus wouldn’t approve of your hating Mikey. But apparently you think it’s OK to judge him and claim knowledge that he is an atheist, which is not only not true, it is libelous. Maybe you need to get back in touch with Jesus and check things out a bit more. I’m sure he can set you straight.

Best,

Mike Farrell

Thanks for the explanation. Your vitriol is dripping with sarcasm and contempt. Very sad. You claim to know much about what is written in the Bible yet miss the Spirit of it. It it beyond the scope of this note to enter into a discussion of systematic theology.  Clearly, you need to reexamine the teachings of Christ, for He is the One who claimed to be God and the only way to the Father, not followers like me.  Further, there are two destinies for all, heaven or hell.  Again that is according to Christ, not me.  People may deny that but it does not change the truth it it.  To love your neighbor as yourself is to warn them that rejecting Christ will result in an eternity in hell.  God does not send anyone to hell, they send themselves by choosing to reject Christ.   And as for judging, you are correct, Jesus warns His followers not to judge others because there is one Judge and Lawgiver, Christ Jesus.  However, He did teach His followers to be discerning of false teachers and prophets, who speak like believers, but by their fruit or deeds are shown to be counterfeit believers, children of Satan.  The Bible is filled with examples of discerning believers ferreting out false brethren.  Finally, Jesus warned His followers that as the world hated and persecuted Him, it will hate and persecute those who follow Him.  If we are not being persecuted it is because we are either a false believer or a disobedient one.  So I thank you for the vitriol and I praise my God that He considers me worthy to suffer for His name. As my Lord said, wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.

Hi (name withheld),

> I’m glad you appreciated the explanation. I wish it had helped. What you mistake for vitriol is actually pity. I don’t object to your believing that you have the answer to life’s questions, I object the assumption that you and your co-religionists have the right to impose your answer on others who choose a different path.

“I don’t hate you, I’m no love my neighbor as myself.” This looks suspiciously like a Freudian slip. A bit garbled, but very interesting.
