I’d also ask that you disband this organization that obviously has no merit if it believes in the infringement of the First Amendment. This “non-profit” is not worthy of that status.

As a citizen of the United States of America, a former US Navy Petty Officer, a supporter of our armed services, and a staunch believer of our Constitution, I am asking you to stand by your criticisms pertaining to Major General Olsen. As a flag officer in our amend forced, he should know the restrictions that are placed on the military, especially senior officers, about speaking to the public in uniform. These restrictions go double when speaking at a blatantly evangelical event which is known to being broadcast to the general public. He should know that his actions can easily be perceived as a violation of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.
I implore you to continue to fight the good fight to support the First Amendment rights of our service men and women, and to help keep the senior officers and enlisted from imposing their beliefs onto the subordinates to the subordinates’ disadvantages. You are a non-profit that is truly worthy of your status, for you work to help others while making yourselves a target in their place.
(Just giving a counter impression to the original poster’s comments. :) )
Dear (name withheld),
Fortunately, this organization is actually devoted to supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States of America, which many of us involved with MRFF vowed to undertake. As such, it has no reason to disband.
The right to free speech under the First Amendment has a number of limitations, based on time, manner and place amongst other things. If I were a US Army Battalion CO who declared “As a Christian, I proclaim this unit to be under the direct supervision of Jesus Christ. Anybody who doesn’t bow the knee to him has 24 hours to put in your 1049”, I could reasonably expect to experience some problems in my career as a commisioned officer of the Armed Forces of the United States. There are less extreme hypotheticals, but the real-world examples are smack in the middle of that spectrum.
So, no retraction. Bad, bad major general. Do not do any of the things you have just done.
