MRFF – Statement on shooting at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College

Yesterday’s tragic shooting in Roseburg Oregon was an abhorrent tragedy and reprehensible crime that has shaken our country to its very core. On behalf of the the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) I would like to offer our unyielding and steadfast sympathy and support to the suffering parents of the student victims of Umpqua Community College, as well as the survivors.

We must be clear and unequivocal in denouncing this act of blatant cowardice and sinister, bigoted terrorism. Indeed, since the massacre took place it has come to light that it was the Christian students of UCC, in particular, who were targeted for execution by  the perpetrator of this heinous crime, lending particularly horrifying qualities of religious hatred to the Roseburg shooting.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) denounces all forms of hate-based violence, whether they are of a pro-religious or anti-theistic nature. Indeed, acts of sadistic violence, such as that witnessed in Oregon, fall under the category of basic misanthropy — behavior that runs counter to basic human decency. Let us once again call it what it is: terrorism.

Our hearts go out to our brothers and sisters in Roseburg, but the work of confronting such evil truly begins at home. It remains essential that we, as Americans, reflect on why such a tragedy occurred and how we can prevent future acts of senseless mass-murder. Let our loss in Oregon also be a cause for reflection. Today we join the country, united in grief, in mourning the victims of heinous prejudice and violent intolerance. However, healing can only take place if we remain vigilant and stamp out the cycle of bitter recrimination that has seized discussions of faith throughout the country.

Your Eternal Ally,

Michael L. “Mikey” Weinstein
Founder & President

Thank you Mikey, this is the first ounce of compassion I have seen you towards Christians.

Shooters profile: I should have known he had ties to Islam and was an anti-Zionist and anti-Semite. Looks like he was a Muslim from his connections.

I disagree that Christians, per sey, were targeted. The shooter’s focus was more on materialism. He thought “spiritual” people like himself should be rejecting an overabundance of things because it was corrupting them. It seems he thought these possessions were also causing a distraction so they didn’t want to interact with him. I think that is why he resorted to online social media. But, even there, he didn’t get enough attention.

For him, enough attention would have been for the world to see that he was right and we all get rid of our possessions, get close to god, and praise his insight, invite him to dinner, etc….

If you study this guy, you will see he describes himself as spiritual and a republican conservative. He bought a Nazi-type hat online and had pictures of the Irish Republican Army. Of course, above all that, he had mental illness, could be asperger’s, don’t know. But, he still shot at people even if they didn’t say Christian. His disdain for societal behavior can be seen on his blog post The material world is a lie in which he says, “our spiritual development has been halted.”

Sadly, his mother was aware of his odd behavior. ‘My son is dealing with some mental issues, and the roaches are really irritating him.’

Oops, here is the url to the story about Chris Harper Mercer’s mother:

    Dear TK,

Several witnesses have said that if the people said they were Christians he then said well you will see him in a few seconds and shot them in the Head. That is singling out Christians, granted, those who were not Christians he shot them in the leg, one is flesh wound, the other a mortal wound. Open your eyes!!

So, when is Mikey going to speak out about the murder of an Israeli couple in front of four of their six children by Palestinian terrorists, and the leader of Hamas calling it an “heroic operation.” Could it be that he is afraid of offending his Muslim clients, yet has no problem offending Christians!!!

Thankfully, Billy Graham’s ministry is sending their rapid response crisis chaplains to Oregon to minister to those affected by this awful shooting!!

Yeshua Warrior, you are wrong. “I disagree that Christians, per sey, were targeted”. Do you see the “per sey” in my comment? so, you open YOUR eyes! Also, the shooter was “spiritual” as he put it, and upset that Christians were not living up to their christianity, in his eyes. I spent a great deal of time going over his social media, and his obsessions speak MORE to him not being paid attention to by a “materialist” society than going after christiansP.S. Billy Graham is a far right kook.

By the way, Yeshua Warrior, if this is so much about christians, he’d find a whole lot more of them in a church.

YW – you know this tragedy happened on civilian ground. Your sarcastic “wow, Mikey is being compassionate about Christians” allows me to understand you know nothing of what the MRFF does in general and what the Weinsteins do in specific.

Once again you shot your mouth off before discovering facts. Seems to be a habit of yours.

    TK,

Once again, this freak did not brutally murder people (Christians) because they were not living up to their Christianity, he murdered Christians because he was influenced by Islam, did not you not read Pamela Geller’s article? Let’s see the freak also stated he wanted a woman who was a Wiccan (a Satanist) and he also said to kill every f*king Jew, so he was also a anti-Semite!

  12. Yeshua Warrior

    Connie,

Guess what, this may have done on civilian ground, but new things have come to light about this murderer, he flunked out of Army basic training, but not soon enough how to handle a weapon.

BTW, Mikey constantly berates, accuses, maligns ridicules Christians all the time, shall I send you all the quotes he has made about Christians?

Oh look, more stuff about this murderer – http://www.wnd.com/2015/10/oregon-shooter-into-occult-wiccan/

Yeshua Warrior – your link crashed my computer with attack ads. I’ll never click on WND or anything you suggest again.

Per the article on Yahoo News: “Not Religious, Not Religious, but Spiritual,” he answered about himself on the site. As for a partner, he said “Pagan, Wiccan, Not Religious, but Spiritual” were qualities he desired.

Nowhere does he identify as Pagan – and even if he did, what does it matter? He decided to use violence against people who did nothing to him. Seems out of scope for someone who is living their life ‘For the Goode of All an May it Harm None’.

Again – the shooter was not in the military and the events happened at a school. Facts are such inconvenient things. They remain the same even as you dance around them.

TK – please for the love of all that is knowledge STOP COMPARING WICCA TO SATANISM. SATAN IS A CHRISTIAN DEITY. Pagans are usually not followers of Jesus. Just saying….

Thanks for playing. Don’t let the door hit either of you where your good lord split you.

You must be talking to the wrong person. i never said any such thing. I’m atheist and know that satan is a made up thing in christianity. And I have no idea what you are referring to, I said nothing about it.
