Carey Cash? Really?
Dear Secretary Deltoro and Admiral Gilday,
>
I was astonished to learn of the announced appointment of CAPT Carey Cash as Deputy Chief of Chaplains. I am dismayed to learn that he is even still in uniform, let alone elevated to such an influential position. It makes me question whether any vetting was done at all! His prior statements and writings make it clear that his attitudes disqualify him as a chaplain at any level.
Our Sailors and Marines of all faiths deserve better. Much better. Chaplains need to serve our brave members in uniform first, and their sectarian agendas NEVER. It’s abundantly clear that CAPT Cash has no understanding of this important and fundamental responsibility.
Very respectfully,
Bill Campbell

Who recommended him for the job? That’s who you need to go after!
He is being grilled for saying that Islam is a violent and women oppressing religion in a book he wrote about war time. He is currently the head of the Navy Chaplaincy school in Newport Rhode Island training the next generation. His job when he was a lower rank was to help sailors who were struggling with there life. They might be suicidal, or broken by the horrors of war. The chaplain is there to help young, overwhelmed men through to the other side, so that they can keep on fighting. He does his job very well. He does have an agenda; after a few conversations with him, it is clear that he is a disciple first, chaplain second. He serves his God to the best of his abilities by being the best chaplain. Then at the end of the the day, when the sailors are through the tunnel, he shows them what it was that pulled them through. That is, if they want it.
