MRFF Condemns U.S. Congressman Who Scheduled “Service Academy Night” on Jewish Holy Day Rosh Hashanah and Refuses to Change Date

Congressman Juan Vargas

Jewish students in California‘s 51st Congressional District will not be offered the same opportunity to explore a career as a military officer as their Christian counterparts, thanks to U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (D-CA). Why? Because Congressman Vargas, in an egregious affront to his constituents of the Jewish faith, has scheduled his district’s “Service Academy Night” for September 26, the Jewish High Holy Day of Rosh Hashanah, excluding observant Jews from the opportunity of meeting with officers from the various service branches and learning about the U.S. military service academies!

Despite a demand from MRFF, Congressman Vargas is refusing to change the date of the event, leaving interested Jewish students with only the anti-Semitic sloppy seconds of watching it later on video, with no opportunity to meet the officers or ask questions.

Would the congressman have scheduled such an event on Easter or Christmas or Good Friday? Of course not! But those are the “important” religion’s holy days.

Come on! Surely Israel can celebrate operation USS Liberty on Rosh Hashanah. The families of the 34 crewman killed by the Israeli attack will surely celebrate.

    To the commentator above:

No one (except perhaps yourself and those exactly like you) celebrates the accidental death of US military personnel.

And it was an accident – the investigation proved it.

Of course both the event and investigation occurred in the late sixties which means standards of the time applied. When we know better, we do better.

It is stated many places on the interwebz that the USS Liberty was a spy ship so…. Knowing what I know now about the hinky things the USA was doing at the time as it pertains to other nations sovereignty it’s no wonder the label of accident was so quickly accepted by all sides.

But that’s not the commentators intent. They wish to paint all but themselves as caricatures of evil and depravity. It’s too bad the visions they claim to see can be explained as their reflection in the mirror.

When ZOG begins the roundups, he’ll be high on the list, NOT!!!
Those who deny that Jews are, an historically oppressed and persecuted ethnic group are extremely-thinly veiled anti-Judeans.

Even if the attack on USS Liberty was intentional, and there’s LOTS of evidence it was, how are the actions of the Israeli government 55 years ago relevant to a US congressman’s treatment of 18 year old American Jews?
