In August of last year, MRFF had a win on behalf of our veteran clients at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center in Pennsylvania, getting a Gideons New Testament removed from the facility’s POW/MIA, or “missing man,” table.

But recently, somebody again put a Bible on the table — this time a Bible of enormous proportion, and MRFF again advocated on behalf of our 14 veteran clients, demanding yesterday that this new Bible be removed.

Early this morning, the Medical Center’s director, Russell E. Lloyd, sent a vague email to Mikey Weinstein, saying only:

“This has been addressed.”

Mikey responded to the vagueness of that statement:

“This has been addressed.”??!!……excuse me, but what does that mean, sir?!…..this is a fair, rational and reasonable question from MRFF on behalf of our 14 military veteran clients who receive their medical care under your direction…….Mikey W.

Director Lloyd then responded:

“On the advice of VA’s Office of General Counsel, the Bible has been removed and will not be replaced.”

So, not only was the Bible removed in under 24 hours, it was very significantly removed “on the advice of VA’s Office of General Counsel” making this, as Mikey explains, “truly a BANNER day” for MRFF!!!

Where did this happen? Because Wilkes-Barre is in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania….. not Virginia. If you can’t even get the state where this happened correctly, it invalidates the entire story.

JPP: please try reading the article again. It states clearly that the VA (Veterans Affairs) medical center at issue is in Pennsylvania. And the entire story is true.

Reading is not a claim to fame with the MAGA faithful, much less comprehension.

Part and parcel to them getting pretty much everything wrong, like the friendly stroll through the Capital on Jan 6 in Wash DC.

Um, wait a minute, I meant to say the Capital in Virginia!

See? If they can’t even get the place where it happened right, then it invalidates the entire story! I knew the Jan 6 assault on the Capital was fake! They didn’t even get the right State!

JPP, don’t re-read the story. Virginia is closer to Wilkes-Barre than Wichita, Kansas. Re-reading will take you further down the Christian rabbit hole. It’ll just confuse you. Save yourself more embarrassment. Just leave it!

Oh, by the way, many don’t know this, please don’t tell the MRFF, Mikey Weinstein is actually African American – in “White Face!” From Virginia (not Wilkes-Barre like everyone thinks)!

I read that somewhere. The Onion maybe?

As a veteran, I firmly stand behind the inclusion of the Bible on the POW table. The Bible represents more than just a religious text; it embodies the resilience, hope, and unwavering faith that have sustained countless individuals in the face of adversity, including prisoners of war. Placing the Bible on the POW table serves as a powerful symbol of the spiritual strength and comfort that many service members have drawn from during their captivity. It honors the sacrifices made by those who have endured unimaginable hardships in service to their country, reminding us of the values and principles that unite us as a nation. The presence of the Bible on the POW table is not about imposing beliefs, but about recognizing and honoring the diverse faith traditions and sources of solace that have helped countless veterans find courage and perseverance in the darkest of times.

Only in the authoritarians’ alternate universe is the display of ONE RELIGION’s holy book “about recognizing and honoring the diverse faith traditions.”

I’m sure Bob wouldn’t mind if every missing man table had a Koran on it instead of the Bible!

Throw his words of representation on it, shouldn’t be a problem right?
