Passion of the Christ was a WONDERFUL film that touched everyone’s heart. Everyone should see it. Only someone like Weinstein would bad mouth it. By the way he called that our “Lexington and Concord” moment how dare he compare himself to our forefathers
Old Soldier, I think it’s clear why Mr. Weinstein chose Lexington and Concord: it’s not to compare himself to “our forefathers”. Instead, it’s a historical reference to an event that touched off a fight for something different.
As for “The Passion of the Christ” being “a Wonderful film that touched everyone’s heart”, I suspect that it did, indeed, touch many hearts. However, I suspect that it didn’t touch everyone’s hearts in the same way. Some people saw it as a snuff flick, and they probably found it sickening. And since I’ve not seen it — and have no intention of seeing it — I’ll say no more about the film itself.
I will say this: pressuring cadets, faculty and staff at the Academy to watch this film smacks of religious domination by commanders. Remember that Judaism teaches two things: first, that nobody but the individual can atone for their transgressions. Second, human sacrifices are absolutely forbidden! So telling a practicing Jew that they have to accept a human sacrifice to atone for their sins is despicable!
And if you want to know how I’ve come to this understanding of Judaism, it’s because in December this year, my Jewish wife and I will celebrate our 42nd anniversary. Over the course of that time, I’ve learned a bit about Judaism. I’ve also learned a bit about how Christian chaplains, charged with meeting the needs of those who come to them according to their faiths, will often impose their Christian views on people of other faiths.
Our forefathers? You mean the deist (at best) slave owners? You know, “all men are created equal – except the ones I own!”

First and foremost, congrats to MRFF and Mikey for your Nobel Peace Prize nomination. Even if you don’t win just being nominated is indeed external validation that what you are doing makes a difference.
Next – of course the old soldier who yells at clouds and disparages Mikey out of pure jealousy says everyone should see Mel Gibson’s Passion of Christ. Um. No. A. I had a hard time watching the whipping scene in Jesus Christ Superstar. B. I saw a small clip of the blood in Mel’s torture pron and I do not consent. I’ve had to deal with all the bodily excretions due to the late husbands cancer. Thankfully blood was not one of the things because ew, squick, hard pass.
I like what Mikey said in the interview, that now either one is a resistor or a collaborator and if one says, eh, I’m not picking sides, yes, you just did and here’s your official welcome to the Nat-C party hat.
Out in the world WeThePeople are getting an idea of their collected power. The whole Kimmel/Sinclair/ABC/Lucrative blackmail issue showed the oligarchs just what happens when WeThePeople flex our muscles.

Mostly Wyt, mostly as in almost all men of a specific religious flavor, and to a person they were vocal in their condemnation of the LGBTQIA+ community, accusing them of the crimes they themselves were arrested for committing. Can’t go a week without three or four of the creeps being caught in some law enforcement sting effort. LOL I bet some of those stings were arranged with the intent of finding the “truth” and discovering what we already knew – the call is coming from inside the house.

As for the matter at hand I have absolutely nothing to add. You pretty much said it all. Mazel Tov to Mikey and the MRFF for the new nomination. This should be the time! Really glad I haven’t been able to see a movie since “Schindler’s List” not that I would want to see anything with Gibson in it.
Anyway the only thing I would say differently from you is that I have always expressed it as Nat. Cs!
