Honestly, the fact that MRFF has gotten over 200 calls from 50+ bases about commanders declaring the Iran conflict part of “God’s divine plan” is… well, let’s just say this is not the plot twist anyone asked for. Our troops signed up to serve their country, not to be extras in somebody’s homemade Book of Revelation fan fiction.
War shouldn’t be treated like a cosmic scavenger hunt for the Second Coming. If your commander starts sounding less like a military leader and more like a doomsday podcast host, something has gone very wrong. The military runs on strategy, discipline, and reality—not prophecy, prophecy-adjacent vibes, or “Jesus told me to” energy.
Huge respect to the service members who spoke up. It takes guts to say, “Hey, maybe we shouldn’t base foreign policy on apocalyptic plotlines.” Someone had to be the adult in the room, and clearly it wasn’t the commanders quoting Revelation like it’s a mission briefing.

MAGAt-ville is portraying the Marine as an unhinged man instead of what he is – a Marine stating he didn’t sign up to go to war for Israel.
* There are so many of my fellow citizens who are just surprised as all get out that the Nat-C’s consider this war their holy war.
* I already knew this but it bears repeating – MAGA doesn’t care about facts. They only care about their narrative which is spoon fed to them every week in church and daily through their voices of authority aka Fox aka the MAGA network. Although, I’ve not seen any evidence of MAGA kids lining up at recruitment centers to die in the Trump holy war. No stitched posts on socials either.

Old Soldier, during my time at Travis AFB, California, I served on the Base Honor Guard. During that time, I was privileged to meet a C-141 Starlifter bearing six transfer cases bearing the remains of service members being repatriated from Vietnam. Removing those remains and transferring them to waiting hearses with dignity, care and respect was among the actions I was most proud of from my 20 years in the Air Force. It was moving and humbling.
There were chaplains present at the ceremony. They performed appropriately, doing nothing that could reasonably be construed as inappropriately promoting their own religions over the objections of others.
But the actions of commanders telling their subordinates that they were party to promoting the Rapture foretold in Christian scripture are something entirely different. Their invocation of specifically Christian scripture to justify the current action in the Middle East is not only unjustified, but un-Constitutional — and prohibited by the UCMJ. As a former chaplain assistant, you, of all people, should understand this!
MRFF’s mission of protecting the religious freedoms of ALL American service people requires they make citizen aware of the issues surrounding this conflict. Because as long as the conflict is being framed in religious terms, it is an inappropriate use of Commanders’ influences — and thus legitimate targets for MRFF’s advocacy. Because other countries shouldn’t have reason to believe that the USA uses force in pursuit of religious objectives.
