WASHINGTON TIMES – Pentagon: Soldiers who spread faith may be prosecuted
Selected Article Excerpt:
Soldiers who promote their faith can be prosecuted under military law, the Pentagon said in a brief statement released to the media.
“Religious proselytization is not permitted within the Department of Defense,” the statement to Fox News stated. “Court martials and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis.”
The statement comes on the heels of a Breitbart report about Pentagon officials who met with Mikey Weinstein, the head of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, to shape policies that prevent active duty members from sharing faith. Mr. Weinstein has a no-tolerance view of Christianity in the military, Breitbart reported. One of his beliefs: Soldiers who share the gospel of Jesus Christ are guilty of “treason” — even chaplains, Breitbart found.
And now the Pentagon has come forward with a statement that embraces Mr. Weinstein’s policies, Breitbart said.

It would appear that the wolves are guarding the henhouse. The military is full of individuals who have a strong faith of some kind. Why else do we all tell stories of “no atheists in the foxholes.” The attitude of the MRFF is a deliberate affront to honest people of faith…people who share and enjoy what they believe with others who believe. It is reacting violently with worse language than any other hate group. Unquestionably there are people at the other end of the spectrum who also go over the edge, but to meet such attitudes with such a zero tolerance for any faith is the throw out the baby with the bathwater.
The MRFF attitude and the new Pentagon policy is threatening anyone who shares their beliefs with prosecution? That sounds quite a bit like proscription to me. Sounds like an exercise in direct violation of the First Amendment rights. Sounds…like a deliberate assault on anyone’s beliefs and convictions….and a serious attempt to destroy all Christian beliefs whatsoever. And when you have no moral foundation for the troops, you have an army without conviction and without restraints.
There is no room in this world for extremists at any end of any scale….much less this kind of incredible hate mongering. As a former member of the US Army I strenuously object to this policy…and the many other zero-tolerance policies being foisted off on our country. This will destroy us all.
Interesting op.
I’m curious…. in light of your motto above, I have to wonder– at what point should we stop calling this the US of A, and call it Nazi America?
When one proudly dons an American Military uniform, there is only one religious symbol, one religious scripture, and one religious faith…..
This sounds like fascism. Yep, just checked the dictionary…..
Mike, after Nazi Germany, I have to ask– are you really this dense? Do you think that as a Jewish man you’ll escape the mechanism of your own diatribe, once it comes to fruition?
I get your rage, I get your hatred. I get that you want revenge for what you believe to be crimes against humanity. Punishing Americans who’ve fought, suffered great loss, and died, and seeking to demean those who fought along side you because they see life differently than you is not courage– it’s cowardice.
My family has served our nation’s military dating back to the Civil war, and the American Military you want to create is not the one they served.
Steve, you are obviously uninformed of the nature of Weinstein’s work. He is retired Air Force himself, his sons both attended the Air Force Academy where they were put under intense and ongoing pressure to reject their Judaism in favor of Evangelic Christianity. The entire culture of the academy is structured around hardcore Christianity. Attending chapel is not “mandatory” but not doing so comes at a cost. Much of this insinuation of, not mainstream Christianity, but rather fundamentalist and in some cases Dominionist Christianity, is part of a long game in which their goal is taking control of the US military and using that control to conquer the world for Jesus. Do some research on RJ Rushdoony, The Chalcedon Institute, Dominionism, The Seven Mountains, Gary North, and the other related topics you find along the way. These people may have fairly fringe beliefs, but there are a lot of them, they are well-organized, well-financed, highly disciplined, and have all the zealotry of true believers.
