Recognizing reason, or reasonable arguments based on the axioms of formal logic requires a certain level of intelligence.  The symbols symbol-mapping process can’t occur in an ill equipped mind.  I could explain to you in using those clear, simple, and elegant processes, that offering to point a gun at another human being and end their life is tantamount to a threat.  Or I could invest a month of my time explaining to my dog how WiFi works.  I hope the analogy isn’t lost on you, but I’ve amused myself at least.
