Hi, my name is (name and rank withheld) and I attended an MWR event last night at Veterans Memorial Park, Sierra Vista, AZ. It is located near Ft Huachuca. I am attaching several pictures I took of a Pantano Christian Church truck and a Scientology massage tent which had a table full of Scientology booklets and large signs promoting Scientology. Unfortunately my cell phone is not very good at taking pictures. It is a three day event, however, and I will be back again tonight with a real camera. Doesn’t this violate not only military regulations, but also the 1st Amendment, since it is on a public park? I am tired of the blatant promotion of religion I see in the army, from Chaplains and 1st Sergeants leading prayers in Jesus’ name while I am an unwilling congregant in a formation, to non-denominational prayer breakfasts where retired servicemen use Power Points to teach soldiers (including Battalion Commanders and XOs) to use their rank to convert soldiers. I was raised Jewish but have been an atheist for many years now. Is there anything I can do about this?
Thank You,
(name withheld)
