Message From MRFF President and Founder Mikey Weinstein
Dear friends and allies,
This month marks a truly momentous occasion: 10 years since the founding of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation! MRFF is the only civil rights organization solely devoted to the separation of church and state in the U.S. Military, serving the faithful and the non-faithful alike. What a decade it's been! In the decade since this new phase in the battle to secure religious (and non-religious) liberty for our brave servicemembers began, we have chalked up achievement upon monumental achievement in the safeguarding of Constitutional compliance... and none of this would have been possible without the crucial support of you, our valued supporters and allies!
MRFF now represents well over 43,000 active duty & reserve personnel, veterans, civilian employees and DoD contractors. While the vast majority of MRFF clients are of the Christian faith, significant amounts of our client base are simply not. We're not just talking about our atheist and agnostic clients, but also those drawn from Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, Sikh, Buddhist, Native American Spiritualist, Humanist, and other minority faith and non-faith communities. What unites all of these groups is their devotion to the bedrock American guarantee of religious tolerance and respect, as well as a healthy distrust for fundamentalist religious zealotry in the U.S. Armed Forces!
Your 100% tax-deductible donations to MRFF directly assist our clients within the Armed Forces, and helps give them the strength to stand up and assert their inalienable Constitutional right to resist morale-shattering religious torment! Dollar for dollar, your generous assistance builds our organizational capacity as well as the likelihood of decisively beating (in the court of public opinion as well as the law) those predators who seek to "evangelize" in the ranks of the military, i.e. force their own religious preferences on others.
Imagine the fate of our MRFF clients without our ceaseless civil rights advocacy. Perhaps the U.S. Air Force Academy would still be screening the Passion of the Christ, or troops serving abroad would be wielding weaponry and insignia bedecked in Christian Biblical references and motifs. Without hesitation we can say that in the absence of MRFF, pathologically fundamentalist Christian fanatics would be riding roughshod over our brave warfighters' right to go about their duty unmolested by nagging, government-funded proselytizing efforts. Servicemember morale, good order, and retention would face absolute corrosion, with devastating repercussions on U.S. national security. Please do your part in these vital efforts to beat back medieval-style Christian zealotry with your year-end, fully tax-deductible donation today. Without your assistance, the forces of bigotry will succeed in their hideous ambition and will remain unchallenged as they seize the reins of our U.S. Military and its major service branches.
