Thank you for your help with the “Jesus on the Water” painting being moved from the Administrative building to the Academy Chapel. It wouldn’t have happened without your help.

On behalf of the 26 MRFF clients, from a multiplicity of faith and non-faith traditions, who are  alumni, midshipmen, faculty, and staff of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. (Name and all other identifiers of MRFF U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Client Withheld)

I don’t see how the chapel can remain non-denominational if it’s dominated by this immense painting devoted to a single religion. Even hidden behind a curtain, everyone will know it’s there.

They can cover up permanent display when needed, or perhaps they have multiple rooms. Let’s take the “W” and move on.

Chapels on military bases are usually used by multiple religions, so multi-denominational would be a more accurate description than non-denominational.

@A.L. Hern, scott stewart, Tom O:
your point(s) are well taken… but, considering the information shared here on MRFF, that was not the assigned mission as requested by USMMA clients.
MRFF responded to the request and USMMA Command quickly agreed to the terms requested. Try to take a few moments and appreciate a critical command who responded quickly and thoughtfully and revel in another victory by MRFF.
If, those clients who requested help from MRFF still find the current resolution problematic, it is their decision to escalate – not your decision – regardless of your interpretation of our constitution.
My understanding is that MRFF “responds” to specific calls for help – it does not police every post, base, or installation looking for infractions. It responds to calls for help. As distasteful as it may be to us, if everyone at a specific location is satisfied, then so be it.
Now, if you want MRFF to patrol every location and actively seek out infractions, then you better put your money in the pot – because that is what it will take to do so.
    Cheers, Friends
