MRFF Stops Bible-Waving Commander from Carrying and Holding Up Bible  During Unit PT Runs and Rewarding Troops for Copying Him with Their Own Bibles

Soldiers running

“Simply put our commander started carrying and holding his bible high in the air for the whole unit to see before after and during these PT runs. He never actually ‘said’ anything about why he was doing this but I can assure you that the message was fully received by our unit. Shortly after he began doing this some of our younger members of our combat unit also started bringing their bibles for these training runs and holding them up in the air whenever our commander did it during these PT exercises.

“Then on the following mornings of PT exercises our commander would always ‘reward’ these young troops by picking them to lead as element leaders of our unit at the front of our PT running formations. This clearly sent the message of his ’special approval’ for those troops who also carried their bibles and raised them whenever he did during our PT runs.”

In the movie Blazing Saddles, the Reverend holds up the Bible and one of the citizens shoots a big hole in it. Someone should have done that to the Commander’s bible.

Used to be a Commander chewed on a cigar during a series run, image being everything, toughness, the warrior ethos.

But now Christian woke Commanders are packing Bibles! “Woke-For-Jesus!” If the folks at the rear start lagging behind, just pass the Bible back!

I can hear the cadence, “Jesus loves me this I know, for my Commander tells me so. We are weak but he is strong, that’s why we join him in this song! Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me…..”

If you’d told me the Commander held the Bible between his teeth while he ran, I’d be impressed! Not really.

The message is very clear, “if you’re not Christian, you don’t belong in my formation!”

Can you hear the ass chewing that took place from his seniors? “What are you fucking doing? I got enough alligators biting at my ass without you stirring shit up again! Now get the fuck out of here and try to focus on combat readiness!”

The senior NCO apologizes for not having the fortitude to stand up to the Commander, but the Commander has the NCO’s career in his hands! The MRFF gets results! And that’s why they should be supported. Military members shouldn’t be subjected to a religious (Christian) loyalty test to serve in our military, period, full stop!

Can you imagine a Commander holding up a Koran during runs? Christians would be calling Fox and every other right wing entertainment show! They’d go into apoplectic seizures!

There is no religious test for combat! To our enemies, you’re wearing an American military uniform, regardless of your religion. And you bleed red just like every other faith!

Our military is focused on Teams, those on your left and right. When a Commander divides the team, particularly along religious lines, he diminishes the team’s combat effectiveness, exponentially increasing risk to America’s sons and daughters.

This Commander should be relieved, unfit to serve, having dishonored his oath to the Constitution and those he is responsible for!

We wonder why we have recruitment problems! Woke-For-Jesus Christian Commanders!

    Another MRFF victory!

If I was the head of the MRFF, I would have chewed out the Senior NCO for not doing his job considering the fact that NCOs are always saying that they run the military. Funny how we have the gall to complain about the German military not standing up the Adolf Hitler and here we are 79 later after the end of World War 2.

Yep. History keeps repeating. We’re fighting the same ugly bigotry and power-grubbing hypocrites we fought 80 years ago. They’re even using the same words to promote their garbage. Listen to Rachel Maddow’s podcast “Ultra.”

Gunther, the MRFF is there to stand behind those facing religious discrimination — not to belittle them. Having the backs of those who feel they are facing religious bigotry is the entire reason the organization exists.

Even senior NCOs have to beware whose toes they tread upon.

Amazing how easy it is to get people to conform with a little bit of control.

That’s why, IMO, Trump can be no where near the White House. Round 2 will be the end of this country, essentially, Nazis waiting in the wings, his henchmen, dying to get their hands on the reigns of power fueled by Christian Nationalist theocratic control.

For years I couldn’t understand how the Nazis came to power and how Nazi Germany happened; “why didn’t the German people stand up to it?” Easier said than done! As will the case be here if Trump gets back in!

Hitler, an elected leader. And how do you stand up to a regime? You don’t! You toe the line or become just another statistic, the demagoguery of the regime an overwhelming force.

The best one could hope for is to be able to leave! Most can’t, caught up in the whole, “you’re either with us or against us!” Financially unable to leave, their livelihoods dependent on the regime.

Similar to a military member where, literally, they have the service member’s life in their hands and subsequently, the lives of the service member’s family, the service member hostage to fealty to a Commander’s enforced Christianity.

The military life is hard enough without the added subservience a Christian Nationalist Commander adds to a subordinate’s plate, another hoop that has to be jumped through to make a career in the military and support one’s family.

That’s why this election is so important! Trump and his boys (many of them convicted, lost their law license, jailed, bad actors) are so dangerous. Nazis! Autocrats and control freaks, thieves, power their goal fueled by money and greed!

Support the MRFF! Keep our military secular and strong!

    And VOTE!

Send Trump to The Big House! Lock his ass up!

Better hope like hell Trump never again sets foot inside the White House!

You really think things are bad now? Hide and watch! “You ain’t seen nothing yet!”

Big Blue Wave coming! Be a part of it!

    J. P. I don’t care about belittling an NCO. Senior NCOs have to be aware of whose toes they are treading on? Well, it just tells me that the NCO corps is just as bad when not having a moral backbone. I don’t want to hear about NCOs complaining about officers when they themselves are no better.

  11. Gunther September 10, 2024 at 8:16 pm

    J. P. Was the Senior NCO facing discrimination regarding this matter? If he wasn’t, then he still was certainly not doing his job in not trying to stop it and deserved to be chewed out. He is a representative of the commander for good or for bad.

In his letter to Lieutenant General Tony D. Bauernfiend, Superintendent, USAF Academy, Mr. Weinstein was certainly belittling the general regarding a live sermon from New Life Church that was being broadcast on the large projector screen in the center of the room during breakfast and lunch at Mitchell Hall, along with Christian rock and rap music that was played over the loudspeakers at the football game against San Jose State on Saturday,

I know this won’t happen but since the Christian message has been promoted publicly I say the rest of the recognized faiths within the DOD get a turn.

For example (civilian but the point remans the same) when MAGA states adopted Christian school councilors and open Christian prayers the community pushed back by demanding equal representation per both State and Federal law. All it took to stop the Christianists was the local church of Satanists applying as per their right for the same privileges. Oh, the pearl clutching!!! Couldn’t have SATANISTS in their schools even though their tenants are way more applicable to todays world – almost pirate like if I had to make a comparison.

Not sure how to make this idea reality here/now as I’m not a Satanist nor do I have the energy to knock on doors and rattle a few cages.

But a Grey One can dream.

Observation – does anyone else look at all these pop out events and think the Christian nationalist plan to take over the world is experiencing a rough start? If this was a dance routine it’s as if each component is looking at other components and wondering if they should just go or wait or…… And they take the step (wrong foot! Keep going – ala Spaceballs).

I’m betting this all played out better in their heads.

  13. Jeff September 11, 2024 at 7:37 am

I’m not expecting the military branches to show equal respect for non-Christian religious beliefs anytime soon. Unfortunately, the Pentagon has done nothing to atone and make up for its capitulation to VP Pence and the many members of the US Congress who insisted that the Navy rescind its appointment of its first Humanist chaplain during the Trump administration. The action of the Vice President and the many members of Congress in that matter prompted formal House of Representatives and Senate ethics complaints filed by me against every one of them.

I believe the group fighting the Christian dominionists in the schools is the Satanic Temple, which is not actually a satanist organization but merely uses the concept of Satan in its name. I support the Satanic Temple in my small way solely because they are doing a significant portion of the hard work in the court system to protect freedom of religion for all in the US. They are also very successful at publicizing their efforts and the reason their programs and legal support for religious freedom are necessary and important.

  14. Grey One Talks Sass September 11, 2024 at 10:08 am

Thanks for the clarification Jeff. I knew it was Satanists but couldn’t remember temple vs church. I know the two groups are constantly confused for each other, to the serious Satanists dismay.

You are correct, the Temple is more of ‘these rules are guidelines’ which is why I likened them to pirates. And yes, they are doing a lot of the heavy lifting in civilian religious freedom issues.

Glad to know you meant what I knew Jeff. Thanks.

Grey One: I think we were basically talking about the same facts. And I think we also share the same outrage that the military services continue to pay lip service to the constitutional rights of service members while in reality ignoring them and thereby encouraging the commanding officers throughout the services to violate such rights. It’s disgraceful.
