In other words, wealth inequality is an existential threat to your livelihood. What do the super wealthy do with their non-taxable money? They have to put it somewhere. Where do they put it? Assets! The same assets you’re competing for. Like housing as just one example. They provide the money you need for a mortgage. IF you can find a house you can afford, a big IF!
They buy up land, hospitals, healthcare systems (Trump RX make you think a bit)? Amazon RX make you think a bit? They buy up bankrupt farms for Pennie’s on the dollar. In other words, everything you may want in life – they own! They’re “privatizing” education in this country. Why? Because it’s a money maker! They loan money to the government by way of buying treasuries with that money they otherwise would have had to pay in taxes! Good little scam, amirite?
In other words, you can’t win. The only way to win is to have been born to rich parents!
Or, take back your country! How? By NOT listening to the bullshit from the wealthy telling you how much you hate “socialism!”
What do you think Social Security and Medicare is? How ‘bout the VA? How ‘bout the military? Completely “socialized” systems in terms of “government owned and operated.”
It always kills me hearing military and retired military rave on about “socialism” when they are products of that very system! Try to take away disability compensation from a vet and watch what happens. 90% of them no more disabled than a man in the moon. A socialized racket! $300 billion dollars a year to service 9 million military retirees, most of it going to disability compensation.
When you hear the word socialism , what do you think? Those goddamn Marxist’s communists! Amirite? Socialism is a bad thing isn’t it? Unless you happen to be a billionaire that invested heavily into the Argentinian economy and lost your ass! What do you do? America IS a very “socialist” country! We privatize profits for the wealthy but socialize their risk! If their investments go well, they make lots of money. If they don’t go well, they still get lots of money because YOU bail them out!
Trump, in his pardons of criminals (white-collar crime), has just given over $2 billion dollars to three criminals that defrauded YOU! The list is long but it’s in the public sphere so you can look it up. Three recent investigations by the SEC that would have imposed over a billion in payback dollars from criminals completely stopped by Attorney General Pam Bondi. Her brother, representing these criminals makes a call to sis and says, “stop the investigation.” One of your senators, Rick Scott, as CEO of Columbia Hospital Corp, was caught up in the single biggest Medicare scam in the history of the country. Is that what you voted for? Yes, it is!
When asked to name a “socialist” country, some might think of, I dunno, Germany, the UK, Sweden, Finland, Norway. I can tell you that the quality of life there is much better than it is here for the average American! They laugh at us.
Their taxes? How ‘bout your taxes? You can’t even go out to eat here without a 28% tax added on to your bill. 8% local tax and 20% tip. You know what they do in Germany for example? You round up. If your restaurant bill is $38.10, you give them $39.00. Because they get paid a living wage without your tip.
The average federal effective tax rate in America is 15%. Add 8% (conservatively) for local and state tax. Add 12.4% payroll tax (you pay it all btw). 2.9% Medicare tax and you’re up to 38.3%. Tack on property tax averaging 1.9% and your total is now 40.2%.
Not to mention healthcare payments, health insurance co-pays, deductibles, etc.
So, the so-called “socialism” ain’t looking too bad now is it? Considering when you need a doctor in other countries, you go to the doctor- and pay nothing at the point of service. Even if you’re unemployed! They don’t ask for a co-pay. Prescription drugs are much cheaper.
At end-of-life in the UK, if you need a nursing home or hospice care – it’s provided. Here, YOU pay. Your health insurance doesn’t cover it. You have to have long term care insurance, a separate policy. Or, be poor enough to be on Medicaid, over 60% of nursing home residents are covered by Medicaid. Cut it and Memaw is coming home!
I apologize for the rant. But if you think building a 90,000 sq ft ballroom addition onto the White House is somehow going to benefit you, then you just go on with your bad self as they say in the south! Bless your heart!
The defense budget is just over a Trillion dollars for FY 26. Really? With Petey Hogsbreath running it? This mother fucker couldn’t handle a couple million dollar program before he became SECDEF.
