The Philadelphia Inquirer Features MRFF in Excellent Article on the VA’s Ludicrously Unnecessary “Anti-Christian Bias Task Force”

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports on long-time MRFF enemy Christian nationalist former congressman and now VA Secretary Doug Collins’s “Anti-Christian Bias Task Force” and abhorrent email encouraging VA employees to rat on their co-workers.
MRFF’s Mikey Weinstein was interviewed for the article, telling the Inquirer, among other things, that so-called “anti-Christian bias in the federal workforce is nonexistent, like looking for a ‘unicorn.’”
Mikey also told the Inquirer that MRFF, which has been receiving numerous calls from extremely concerned VA employees, is looking for a plaintiff to sue the government over the task force.

I want to take this opportunity to say God bless our veterans and God bless our men and women in the military and their families especially those who are serving overseas and can’t be home. Thank you for REALLY fighting for our freedom and may God bring you home safe. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you. I do this since the MRFF doesn’t have the decency to. Oh well
I’m sure there exists within the holy book of the old soldier who farts a lot a parable or two about intentions. Anyone else doubt the sincerity of the message written by the old soldier?
If their intent was to wish all military personnel (active and veteran alike) a happy holidays they had the opportunity. Noted they didn’t take it.
Like their dear leader who is most definitely featured in the Epstein Files, they follow the standard MAGAt practice of offering a kindness with one hand before smashing the crap out of you with a hammer as you accept. WeThePeople trust such folk at our own peril.*
It’s the 23rd you half baked excuse for a soldier. Not even the Eve before Christmas Eve since you posted your bon mot just after the bars all close. Feeling the weight of all your bad choices are you? Good. Now go forth and do better. You malign a good person and organization because of your own failings. Might want to have “that conversation” with the man in the mirror, that is if you are a man.
Also, which God? The DOD recognized over 150 distinct religions, at least they did before the cosplayers were put in charge (no offence to cosplayers as their dedication to their craft belies the jokes currently running our military forces). So back on target old soldier. Which God? Yours? Really?
You truly believe that everyone who says they believe in your concept of deity has the same dogma? LOL
The purity testing will be amusing, there is that.
*Trust is a funny thing. I can trust a snake to be a snake, a scorpion a scorpion. What I can’t trust are humans who pretend to be all friendly but in reality are just collecting souls so they can get into heaven. Beware the Evangelical with the wide smile which doesn’t fill their eyes with joy at your friendship. In their view lying to heathens isn’t really lying.
And we take note that Old Liar lacks the decency to express condolences over the Americans, and all others, murdered at Bondi Beach, or to at least wish a Chanukah Sameach to Jews in the service.
Bondi Beach, like all loss of innocent lives, a tragedy of carnage born out of extreme hate, although disproportionate by number, not unlike the carnage in Gaza. Tears flow and hearts break witnessing the unadulterated evil fueled by religion.
A special thanks to all who all who are away from families during the holiday season serving the rest of us: hospital and medical staff, police, fire departments, EMS services, and, of course, military members who chose service away from families as part of their profession.
While I wouldn’t go so far as to wish a good Christ’s Mass, or celebrating victory over the Greeks, I will say “Happy Holidays” to all. Particularly those celebrating the birth of Sir Isaac Newton at this time of year.
This time of year for me is almost impossible.
As days ticked down towards the end of the year my late husband’s health slid ever closer to the death we both knew was coming. After all, cancer sucks.
So, death happens. What next?
Well, I understand growth demands confronting things from our past. Doesn’t mean I have to like it, just saying. But here’s my point. If WeThePeople do not directly address all the ways We’ve failed our marginalized communities We will continue to make the same mistakes.
It is a fact that our country, as idealistically as it started, never presented the same opportunities to everyone. Now, with everything already dismantled we can rebuild to ensure we do live up to the lofty ideals set for us a couple of centuries ago. But that isn’t the current topic.
This season (historically co-opted by a specific religion and their followers who cry victim whenever their way isn’t the ONLY way) really is for everyone as every faith I’ve ever studied had some sort of fancy celebration for the days around the longest day or night. It’s almost in our DNA contains the faint memories of huddling close to the fire with the wind whistling outside the enclosure while feasting on foods that weren’t able to be preserved for the long cold times. Telling stories to pass the time. Making the shadows dance to emphasize a specific part. Creating community out of a meal and a shared need for warmth.
How ever y’all celebrate I hope that love is central to your feasts and that you survive the night. We’ve work to do in the new year and every person is needed if fascism is to be defeated.
Happy Holidays.
I wish I could say I’m surprised that Old Soldier seems offended that MRFF doesn’t formally wish people a Merry Christmas, but unfortunately, I’m not. Would he be offended if MRFF wished people Happy Hanukkah? We he be satisfied if, in addition to Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year, MRFF also wished Wiccans and other neo-Pagans a Warm and Wonderful Solstice?
The point is that MRFF doesn’t engage in such behavior because it doesn’t promote any one religion over any others — nor should it. It exists to protect religious freedom for ALL members of the armed forces and its civilian personnel as well. Singling out any one religion for its celebration of a holiday would be as offensive as openly calling for one and ONLY one Christian denomination’s version of Christianity.
We’ve seen what the results of such a stance can be. The Pilgrims of Massachusetts Bay infamy outlawed Christmas in their colony, For anyone who wants a reminder of what that was like, look up The Witchfinder General playlist on the Atun-Shei Films channel on YouTube. The man portraying this character does a marvelous job of showing us what a puritanical Christianity could have fundamentally changed American history and America. Better that we should promote religious freedom for everyone!
Ensuring that everyone in or associated with the armed forces can practice religion according to the dictates of their own conscience — and NOT according to the directives or influences of their superiors in the chain of command — is the mission of MRFF. That someone who served as a chaplain’s assistant so long ago seems so unwilling to grasp this fundamental concept of religious freedom escapes me! He reminds me why I am grateful that organizations like MRFF and AU exist!
Happy Festivus and Joyous Saturnalia to you, Old Bitter Soldier. Don’t forget that the solstice is the real reason for the season (^_^)
