question about the “anti-Islam” poster

>> I follow your positions with enthusiasm, and, as a libertarian tending toward atheism (or at least agnosticism), I am a strong supporter of separation of church and state.
>>
>> One question that I have recently mulled over is, why the objection to the recent Fort Carson poster against Islam? I think we need to be on guard against focusing only on the Christian evangelicals. Islam is far worse, since, as I understand it, Islamic thought supports establishing theocratic Islam in any countries where that is deemed possible. So why the objection to that poster since it is warning against the establishment of one particular form of politically motivated religion.
>>
>> I am well aware, as a person involved in academia, that there is a rather knee jerk tendency among the “PC crowd” to call anyone who expresses worries about Islam in the political arena as an “Islamophobe”, but I think that is wrong headed, and actually a confusion between bigotry toward a people versus quite valid criticism of a religious doctrine.
>>
>> I would welcome learning more about your stance on this issue. Maybe you could direct me to something the MRF has published about this,
>>
>> Thanks, (name withheld)
Dear (name withheld),
You’re absolutely right that we should guard against an Islamic government being established in the United States. No one would contest that here.
The reason we objected to the shirt being sold was its targeting of a minority religion, which many of our clients who actively defend our secular government happen to adhere to. In our country, at this time, there is a real threat of theocracy (although that threat is under the sign of a cross, not a crescent and star).
Promoting a message of fear of Muslims is detrimental to mission readiness, as it encourages members of our military to fear their Muslim brothers and sisters in arms.
To address your request for clarification about our doctrine, we are absolutely opposed to any encroachment of religion into government, no matter the banner flying over it. We also oppose any effort to denigrate a member of our armed forces based on their religious perspective, which is exactly what that government endorsed shirt did.

Mr. Page, really? there is a greater danger of theocracy under the cross than under the moon and crescent. I see you have given into the bull manure that Mr. Weinstein that has been shoveling around this country as fact! The word Islam itself means to bring under subjection and radical Muslims have no desire to coexist wherever they are, their only goal is to conquer and bring those whom they conquer under their subjection otherwise be killed if not converted!!! Now. please give me just one verse from the New Testament where Jesus tells His disciples and followers to bring under subjection anyone who does not convert to Christianity, and may I while I am at it, Jesus never came to establish a new religion called Christianity, He came to improve upon biblical Judaism, and for the first century, the church, or should I say synagogue was made up of Messianic Jews, Jewish followers of Jesus. The roots of Christianity are Jewish in nature, not Gentile as many think!
As far as our Muslim brothers and sisters in arms, I think it is time that everyone of them be thoroughly vetted to find out what mosque they worshiped at, for as we all know nobody did that with Maj Nassan who brutally murdered 9 fellow soldiers at Ft. Hood.
We need to close all our borders and usher out of our country all illegal immigrants and finally wake up to the threat of radical Islam, and the little threat that Christians are. What amazes me is that Mr. Weinstein does not write a peep about his Muzzie friends but always scoriates the Christians, which may be a long seething vendetta that he has against Christians who called him a Christ killer during the time he was at the Academy. Well, the fact remains, the Jews of Christ time did have him put to death by the Romans, and they paid for that with the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD and their being scattered across the earth.
YW, you are living proof of a theocrat who wants their holy book to be used as the basis of law for the USA. You’ve said it before Bible before Constitution. That’s theocracy in case you missed the definition.
Do you think I like lurking about making sure your more outrageous comments are addressed? I prefer to hide thank you very much but you and your ilk leave me shaking. I’m not sure you remember when religion and theocracy went off the reservation so I’ll provide a few examples – Spanish Inquisition, The Crusades (all of them including the one being fought now), Salem Witch Trials, The entire treatment of the Native peoples here in the US… shall I go on?
I will repeat this phrase until the “Aha” light shines in everyone’s eyes. Religion is like a penis. It’s great to be proud and rather fond of it but we have a problem when you pull it out and start waving it about.
