To whom it concerns:
Removing those crosses only takes away freedom of religion from those that wish to worship there. You have found a nice little niche in the world to give yourselves some purpose. Unfortunately you’re using said “purpose” to infringe on the rights, beliefs, and wishes of others.

Separation of church and state…you take it MUCH too literally. Why don’t you fight to KEEP those crosses to allow those who wish to worship there that freedom? Oh, that wouldn’t make a headline to give you notariety and more “pledges”. I’m sorry. I forgot that part.

Thank you for helping destroy our country.

Hi (name withheld),

Removing the Crosses is actually not necessary. If they were part of a general religious display containing the symbols of all the religions and non-religion potentially represented by the KIAs, it would be hunky dory.
Instead of taking away religious freedom from Christians, removing the cross as an exclusive display restores the religious freedom of other faiths involved.

You are advised to Google “Supreme Court Decisions on Separation of Church and State.” There you will find many decisions and rulings that have been made a part of the First Amendment. These are called Case Law and provide many thousands of words of interpretations.

I think you will find that the uninformed who know little about the constitution, what has been added to it and interpreted by the Supreme Court, are far more likely to destroy America.

Knowledge is vital. Without it I’m afraid you have entered the ring and forgot your jock strap and cup.

Sincerely,

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Easter Pvt. Lee Owned…that’s damn funny to me no matter if I like your reply or not.

Hi (name withheld),

Glad you have a sense of humor. My name is really Rick Baker and I volunteer for MRFF to help make sure everyone who writes to MRFF gets a prompt reply.

We get many really stinging letters and occasionally try to be a bit snippy in the responses. Yours was one of the nicer ones.

I’m a former Air Force Officer and Rescue Helicopter Pilot having served two combat tours in Vietnam. That’s why I think it’s so important to keep religion in perspective when dealing with the Armed Forces and the religiously diverse group they are.

I hope you understand that our goal is not to take religion out of the military but rather to protect minority religions which have gotten short shrift and those of the majority religion from being further proselytized to a higher level of obedience.

Thanks again for writing.

Rick
