Hi (name withheld),
Unnoticed, a little cross here and a little prayer there kicked off an inquisition.  What harm could a cross do? We could ask the Russian Jews who suffered Pogroms under it. We could also ask the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust while Pope Pius XII signed a treaty with Hitler to support Christian Churches in Germany.  We might consult those who were charged with witchcraft and who were tortured and burned at the stake under the cross. But of course they are all dead. Victims of the cross.
Today that great tradition continues in Africa where African Christians under the tutelage of American Christian Missionaries are encouraging the death penalty for homosexuals  and accusing children of witchcraft then  charging their parents exorbitant  prices to perform exorcisms. These ceremonies often leave the children injured and traumatized.  Some kids have been burned at the stake. To confirm my point simply Google “African Christian witch hunts”   The cross is a prominent fixture there.
Divine intervention could be a saving grace or a Tsunami that kills thousands of men women and children. Both are considered an act of God. One only hopes that the prayed for intervention is the former.
I believe that there are “fringe people” as well as fringe groups. From your writing I would say that it is you who is on the fringe.
I think the biggest egos belong to those who assume God is on their side.  Remember the German military belt buckles with “Gott Mitt Uns (God is with us)? Didn’t seem to help their cause.
So I think that wherever we see a cross or any religious symbol for that matter, used as a tool in situations that are in violation of the US Constitution, then we will act.
Thanks for your note. Unlike many religions,  we appreciate criticism. It keeps us humble.

I don’t often take to task some of what I consider fringe organizations but you take the cake. Why don’t you get a life and stop worrying about a Cross here or a Prayer there.
There are more important things for this country to worry about. In fact, we could use a LOT of Divine Intervention to get us through this mess not a lot of piddly things you think are really important.
Suppose if it were up to you all the Military Crosses that honor the ones who gave their lives so fringes like you could operate would be removed or a 10 foot fence installed, or all the religious paintings and engraving on our government buildings be painted over. What arrogance you demonstrate.
Seems to me you make a BIG fuss over nothing Just to boost your ego and that is sad.
